David Pearson is Director, University of London Research Library Services and has previously worked in a number of academic and research libraries. He is a member of the JISC Content Services Committee, is Chair of CURL’s Resource Discovery Strategy Group, and as a member of the CURL Digital Content & Curation Task Force (now disbanded) was involved in the commissioning of the Loughborough study, which became JISC’s Digitisation in the UK. While Librarian at the Wellcome Trust he helped to establish the Medical Journal Backfiles project. |

Philip Pothen is JISC's Press and PR Manager. He previously worked in communications for the Resource Discovery Network (now Intute) and the AHDS (Arts and Humanities Data Service), both JISC services. He has qualifications in teaching, librarianship and Public Relations and has taught and been a librarian in both FE and HE. He has a PhD in Philosophy from the University of Sussex and his second book - 'Engaging with Users: Online Public Relations' - is due to be published by Chandos in 2008.

Rick Prelinger, an archivist, writer and filmmaker, founded Prelinger Archives, whose collection of 51,000 advertising, educational, industrial, and amateur films was acquired by the Library of Congress in 2002 after 20 years' operation.
Rick has partnered with the Internet Archive to make 2,000 films from Prelinger Archives available online for free viewing, downloading and reuse. With the Voyager Company, a pioneer new media publisher, he produced fourteen laserdiscs and CD-ROMs. Rick has taught in the MFA Design program at New York's School of Visual Arts and lectured widely on American cultural and social history and on issues of cultural and intellectual property access. He is currently Board President of the Internet Archive, and sat on the National Film Preservation Board for five years as representative of the Association of Moving Image Archivists.
His feature-length film "Panorama Ephemera," depicting the conflicted
landscapes of 20th-century America, opened in summer 2004. He is co-founder of the Prelinger Library (http://www.prelingerlibrary.org), an appropriation-friendly private research library that is open to the public, located in downtown San Francisco.

Andy Tyerman has used technology as a constant feature in the classroom as a teacher then Deputy Head helping to support colleagues and improve learning opportunities for pupils. Andy was influential in the deployment of the early NGFL models in his local education authority which resulted in a move to the role of adviser.
Over the next six years he worked with schools advising on the best use of technology in improving teaching and learning that formed the basis of a Learning Platform solution. A key player in identifying and supporting schools adopting technology solutions to improve organisations, Andy has a good understanding and belief that technology is simply a means and not an end in itself. As Assistant Director at Becta Andy has key responsibilities to help institutions realise the benefits of technology for all. He is closely involved with the Learning Platforms agenda and developing vision and strategy for personalising learning supporting the delivery of the Government’s e-Strategy.

Murray Weston is Director of the British Universities Film & Video Council (BUFVC), a specialist representative body which supports the production, study and use of moving image and sound for UK higher education and research. Part-funded by HEFCE via the JISC, a large proportion of the BUFVC’s work is delivered through online services (http://www.bufvc.ac.uk).
The BUFVC prepared all content and metatdata - more than 7,000 movie and sound items - now delivered as ‘Film and Sound Online’ by EDINA (http://www.filmandsound.ac.uk). The BUFVC recently digitised 3,000 hours of selected ITN/Reuters Television content in more than 50,000 segments for Newsfilm Online (http://newsfilm.bufvc.ac.uk) soon to be released. Large-scale national services such as the Television and Radio Index for Learning and Teaching, the British Universities Newsreel Database, the Moving Image Gateway (http://www.bufvc.ac.uk/gateway) and the Off-Air Television Recording Back-Up Service are also in the BUFVC portfolio.
Murray has a special interest in non-fiction and documentary film and has produced and contributed to number of award-winning film and television productions. He is Vice-Chair of The Grierson Trust (http://www.griersontrust.org), Vice-Chair of the Kraszna-Krausz Foundation (http://www.editor.net/k-k/about.htm) and a member of the Archive Committee of the Royal Television Society.
